DEFINITIONS OF COMPUTER
A computer is a general purpose device that can
be programmed to carry out a set of arithmetic or
logical operations. Since a sequence of operations can be readily changed, the
computer can solve more than one kind of problem.
Conventionally, a computer consists of at least one processing
element, typically a central processing unit (CPU) and some form of memory. The processing element carries out
arithmetic and logic operations, and a sequencing and control unit that can
change the order of operations based on stored information. Peripheral devices
allow information to be retrieved from an external source, and the result of operations
saved and retrieved.
PART OF COMPUTER
1. SOFTWARE
Software
is a collection of some of the commands or instructions are executable by a
computer to work on it as needed.
The types of
software:
1. Operating systems: a software that
connects between humans and computers. Example: Windows, linux, android.
2. Utility program: a software that
serves to maximize computer performance. Example: Antivirus.
3. Application program: the software
used to program the sesai certain functions. Example: Winamp, adobe photoshop,
nero.
4. Compiler or interpreter: the software
that serves to translate the program into machine language. Example: Microsoft
visual basic.
2. HARDWARE
Hardware
is the physical part of the computer all, and distinguished from the data it
contains or operates on.
Example
of hardware :
1.2 Input
Input device is a
device that is used to enter commands and data to be processed . Input devices
commonly used in the computer are :
·
Keyboard : Is an input
device that is used to enter letters , numbers and special characters.
·
Mouse
: Is the input device that serves to move the pointer
or cursor quickly.
·
Microphone : Function
to record or insert sounds into the computer
webcam.
·
Scanner :Scanner is
used to scan the image / file.
2.2 Process
CPU is the most
important part of a computer because it is the brain of the computer . CPU
often also called the microprocessor or processor called data processing and
compute. Process devices commonly used
in the computer are :
·
CPU (Central Processing
Unit)
CPU is the most
important part of a computer .because it is the brain of the computer . CPU
often also called the microprocessor or processor called data processing and
compute.
·
Memory
RAM / ROM Memory is a computer hardware whose
function is to store the information before or after processing by the
processor . Such information may include the command or data .
Memory is divided into 2 ( two ) parts , namely
Internal Memory and External Memory called ROOM ( Read Only Memory ) .
A. RAM ( Random Access Memory )
RAM is the memory that is used to store temporary
data on a command or program sebuarun . The command includes the data to be
read from disk.
B.
ROM ( Read Only Memory )
ROM is used to store data in fixed order .as the
name implies , the computer can only read data and commands contained in ROM ,
such as commands that run when you first turn on the
computer.
·
Motherboard
Motherboard
or mainboard is often referred to as a computer device that serves as a
repository for other devices , such as Memory , Processor , VGA Card , Sound
Card , LAN Card and others.
·
Hard Drive
Hard drive is a storage medium with the
greatest capacity .hard drive is used for the purpose as a repository of data
used computers.
· VGA Card
VGA
Card is a computer device that functions signal transform digital signals into images .
·
Sound Card
Sound card is a computer peripheral
that functions convert digital signals into sound signals . Sound Card allows
the data in digital form is displayed in the form of sound on the speakers .
3.2 Output
The
output device is a computer device that is used to display commands and data
that has been processed .input devices commonly used in the computer are:
·
Monitor
Monitor function to
display the data , instructions and information in the form of text , or image
engraving.
·
Speaker
Speaker serves generating or sound effects from your
computer .
·
Printer
The
printer is an output device that is used to print the data / information from
the computer to paper.
3. BRAIN
WARE
Brainware
can be interpreted as an intellectual device (in this case human brain) who
operate and exploration capabilities of the hardware and software available.
